The short version

Clarity Money Lab is an educational tool that helps you see your money clearly. It is not financial advice. Your numbers live on your own device unless you choose to turn on sync. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we don't track you around the internet.

Not financial advice

Nothing here is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. We show math, not recommendations tailored to you. The "next dollar" suggestions follow a common rule of thumb (emergency cushion first, then high-rate debt, then investing), but your situation may call for something different. For decisions that matter, consider talking to a qualified financial advisor.

Projections are examples, not promises

Charts that show future growth are hypothetical illustrations. Rates like 3% for savings or 10% for index funds are example assumptions based on broad historical averages. Real returns vary, go down as well as up, and are not guaranteed. Past performance does not predict future results. Debt payoff dates assume your balances, rates, and payments stay as entered.

Your privacy

Everything you type is stored locally in your browser on your device. We can't see it. The money numbers you enter are never sent to us or anyone else unless you turn on sync.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve the site. It never sees the amounts you type — those stay in your browser. We don't run ad pixels and we don't sell data. If you block analytics with your browser or an extension, everything still works.

If you turn on sync (optional), we store your email address, a secure hash of your password (never the password itself), and the numbers you've entered, so you can use the same data on another device. You can download all your data or erase it completely at any time from the Settings page. When you erase, it's gone.

For parents: the kids page

The kids dashboard is a learning toy for practicing saving. It has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics of any kind, and collects no personal information. We don't ask for a name, email, or anything else, age is used only on the device to label the chart. Everything a child enters stays in the browser on that device and can be cleared by clearing the browser's site data. It uses simplified example rates to teach the idea of compound growth, and the same "examples, not promises" caveat applies.

Terms of use

The site is provided as-is, free of charge, with no warranty of any kind. We work to keep the math accurate, but we can't guarantee it's error-free, so double-check anything important before acting on it. To the fullest extent the law allows, Clarity Money Lab isn't liable for decisions made or losses incurred based on this tool. By using the site you accept these terms. If we update them, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
